A Warm Welcome to Kompass Geometric Arts

Welcome to Kompas Geometrics Arts

Where traditional geometry and art meet!

The Kompas Geometric Arts Blog has been created to connect people interested and engaged in traditional geometry, and the art made from this type of geometry. Of course, it is not limited to this, since it would be nice to brainstorm about laser-cutting, woodwork, stonework - all with this dynamic geometry as a basis.

The Kompas Geometric Arts Blog is also here to discuss the tricks of the trade - what is your favourite compass, computer programme, etc. Above all, it is to further create a community around traditional geometry as taught by Mr. Mohamad Aljanabi. The blog is

published bi-monthly.

My name is Lisa Vermeulen. I have been learning the ins and outs of this type of geometry for two years. I have taken quite a few courses with Mr. Aljanabi and am still as interested and engaged in this practise as the day I discovered it. As some of us would assert - it's addictive. I still have a lot to learn. The geometry always has more to teach.

Website kompasgeometricarts.co.uk

After two years of learning and making art, I have created a website - kompasgeometricarts.co.uk. Kompas is the Dutch way of writing compass - the tool needed to create this type of geometric patterns. I have chosen this spelling as a reference to my Dutch heritage. The intent of the website is to showcase some of my art and to create a shop (which is scheduled to open in the autumn of 2022). I am also busy taking the Mr. Aljanabi's excellent advanced course (https://www.facebook.com/groups/zakhrafa.school), and am working on a sponsored art project.

Welcome and stay tuned for the next post about creating large artworks.
